Breakfast Fuels

It is crucial to have a hearty breakfast before heading off on any adventure. Breakfast at the campsite doesn't have to be overwhelming, there are ample easy & delicious recipes that can be prepped in advance or easily prepared at the campsite. 

Oats are an essential ingredient for lots of different breakfast creations so make sure you don't leave home without them (you can also get GF old fashioned oats from Whole Foods). 

If you know you're going to be in a hurry the next morning, you can always add milk or water to a cup of old fashioned oats & let it sit in a cool box overnight. For added flavor, we suggest adding some cinnamon, honey & a dash of salt. For extra nutrients & more substantial meal, we recommend adding some chia seeds, almond pieces &/or ground flax seed. You can mix it all up in a bowl/cup & store overnight for an enjoyable overnight oats delight. 

If you have time in the morning, you can heat up milk or water & add the oats once boiling & cook for 5 minutes for a warm & delicious breakfast. All the same ingredients can be added. If you have any available, it is also a delicious addition to add some bananas or berries to the warm oats for added sweetness. For a more savory version, you can always add extra cinnamon & grated carrots. 

If you're backpacking, you can always heat up water with your jet boil or source of water heat & transport the boiling water to a container & enclose the oats for a few minutes while they cook through. Oats stay good forever & are the easiest addition to any excursion. 

Avocados are another essential breakfast item. They also stay good for a while & are so easy to add to anything. 

If you know you're going to be in a hurry, you can mash avocados with olive oil, lime juice, salt, pepper & chili flakes in a container & store in a cool box overnight. The next morning you can spoon it on to a rice cake or slice of bread & enjoy a refreshing but filling breakfast. 

If you have time in the morning, you can slice some tomatoes, boil or fry an eggs or cook some bacon to add to the top of the avocado toast. 

If you're backpack, avocados stay good for a few days & are a delicious snack to eat alone with a spoon or to add to a rice cake. We always recommend carrying a spice missile so you can add some additional flavor on the go!
